Key findings

For screen reader users, the EchoSOS app is hardly usable due to the lack of form labels and unlabelled switches. For example, buttons such as ‘Ambulance,’ ‘Police’ or ‘Fire Brigade’ are only read out as a ‘button’. The form for creating the emergency passport is missing labels. What’s more, visually, the input fields are poorly visible because the contrast ratios are not sufficient. In addition, the text size cannot be adjusted. There is a visible keyboard focus, so the app can also be operated with the keyboard or alternative input devices.
