Key findings

Overall, keyboard operation in the MyHelsana app is sufficient, although individual elements are not accessible. The PDF files are not accessible because the corresponding semantic structure is missing. The app contains many unlabelled switches and icons that do not have appropriate alternative text; the information icon, for example, is labelled with the ‘attachment.png button’. Some icons also do not have adequate contrast ratios either. The settings are relatively easy to use with screen readers: if the settings are changed, confirmation is received. However, certain changes cannot be made: the validity date for accident coverage, for example, is not accessible via screen reader and, as such, cannot be changed either.
