Key findings

As on iOS, the content of the SRF News app is structured semantically enough for screen reader users to find their way around. Headlines are correctly marked as such and switches are clearly labelled, meaning that configuring settings and navigating within news articles works well with a screen reader. However, there are shortcomings when it comes to keyboard operation of the app. The majority of all elements and content are not accessible with the keyboard or alternate input devices. In addition, the keyboard focus is not always visible, making selecting a switch or content a bit of a guessing game. When attempting to submit the feedback form, the screen reader reads a summary of all errors in case of missing input. However, the error message in the defective or missing field is not linked correctly, meaning the screen reader does not read this message. With some exceptions, the text size can be adjusted sufficiently, and the contrasts more than meet the requirements.
