Key findings

The Android version of the Migros app differs significantly from the iOS version in terms of the available features, which makes it difficult to compare the versions directly. For example, many settings cannot be configured in the Android version. What’s more, features like branch search are not implemented in the app, but lead to the Migros website. Keyboard operation is barely possible: it is not possible to jump to a number of elements. Some buttons are not labelled or the label is not helpful. The cash receipts in PDF format have no semantic structure and no document title. When entering the delivery address, mandatory fields are not marked either visually or for the screen reader and in case of missing entries there is no error message. Interaction with shopping lists is generally possible with assistive technologies, but marking items as purchased is not possible for screen reader users. Elements are only marked correctly as headings in some cases. This makes it difficult for screen reader users to orient themselves within the app.
