Key findings

When navigating through the app, there are items that are not read out by the screen reader. Switches are not declared as such. Headings are completely missing. Due to the insufficient labelling, the settings area of the app is inaccessible for blind users. Even with a keyboard or an alternative input device, the app is hardly usable: the focus is not always visible, disappearing again and again before reappearing elsewhere. The event calendar is very difficult to use with a screen reader and therefore is not suitable for blind people: the categories in the filter are not announced as links or switches, but instead as ‘118 exhibitions,’ for example. When selecting a category, the active categories are only highlighted visually; screen reader users receive no feedback. After closing the filter, you are more likely to find out by chance whether a filter is active, e.g. if there are no events within the desired date range. The contrast ratios meet the requirements with few exceptions. The text size also adjusts, with overlaps occurring in some places.
